Otter Cliffs II
2024 | oil on Arches Oil paper | 5x7
This is based on a view I’ve painted a number of times of Otter cliffs in Acadia National Park in Maine. While painting this view this past year with a friend, a seagull stole our bag of Triscuits and led us on a chase around the beach until we finally retrieved the bag with one triscuit left in in it. It’s random events like that one, that you get while painting on location, that creates the whole panoply of associations one has with a place and with the paintings you produce there. You can’t beat it.
