Acadia Waves

$250.00

2024 | oil on Arches Oil Paper | 5x7 inches

The past couple of summers I’ve devoted some time to doing wave studies.  The vast majority of them will never see the light of day, but in this one I felt like I captured some of the color and texture and patterns of the waves that was giving me an overwhelming impulse to paint them on that day.  The motion of waves, and the process of capturing them in a stationary medium like pictorial art, is of endless fascination to painters.  I have colleagues who have made entire careers out of it, and it can be an intimidating subject even without contemplating all of the great sea paintings out there.

This painting is sold in a solid wood frame, as pictured.
