I began this painting on an evening with a stormy, overcast sky. At the last minute, this light burst across the background and caught the tops of the trees. Those little magic moments are part of the amazing experience of actually being there and painting from life.
This painting is sold ready to hang in a handmade, custom frame, made of quarter sawn oak by Dard Hunter Studios in Ohio. Since these frames are individually hand-built, the grain of your frame will be unique, and will vary from the one pictured. The painting will ship including the page of accompanying field notes from the painting expedition, as well as the color compositional sketch that I made, both of which are part of my process for engaging with a place and developing a painting.
