I painted this spot several years ago, and at the time I found it frustrating because it was a beautiful place to be, but I couldn’t figure out how to convey the beauty of being there in a picture. I returned to that spot for this painting, and, several years later in my artistic development, I am finding I’m starting to be able to convey a bit of what I couldn’t get before.
This painting is sold in a handmade, custom frame, made of quarter sawn oak by Dard Hunter Studios in Ohio. Since these frames are individually hand-built, the grain of your frame will be unique, and will vary from the one pictured. The painting will ship including the page of accompanying field notes from the painting expedition, as well as the color compositional sketch that I made, both of which are part of my process for engaging with a place and developing a painting.
